Abstract:

Hypertension is a long-term medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated. This is the prospective observational study. In this study 127 hypertensive patients were taken for evaluation of prescribing patterns in hypertensive patients and economic considerations in hypertensive patients. On completion of this study, it reveals that ARB's are the most commonly prescribing drugs for hypertensive patients followed by calcium channel blockers and diabetes mellitus is most commonly seen comorbid condition in hypertensive patients. This study also reveals that as the duration of hypertension increases, economic burden on hypertensive patients also increases.
